Day 2 (PM)

Resting heart rate: 52bpm

Day 2 (AM): Rampant Rabbit and The World's Most Uncomfortable Bike

This morning's resting heart rate: 50bpm

Training started in earnest today, with a 30 min, 6.6mile cycle ride.

It was The World's Most Uncomfortable bike, and I knew I'd made a mistake 5 minutes into training. I fell short of the target zone by 15bpm for most of the session, just managing to stay in the zone for the last 5 minutes.

I was kept amused by the cardiosport device that I'd bought from eBay however; every time I looked at it I was reminded of the moments after it arrived in the post yesterday. I was eager to have a flick through the operations manual, and as I did, the battery change instructions for a Rampant Rabbit fell from its pages....

Should I send them back to the previous owner?

I'm relieved to see that she's been keeping an eye on her heart rate with all that excitement. :-)

Day 1

The beginnings of the plan to make this happen are forming; the PR and training are taking root, and feelers have gone out elsewhere.

Today's resting heart rate: 55bpm

It began with an idea...

Follow a reasonably successful 4hrs in the seat in the 2010 Le Mans 24hr Kart Endurance, I thought that maybe next year, I'd do the whole 24hrs myself.

And so began, the challenge to be the first person to tackle 24hrs in Le Mans...

...Alone.
